Uniform at MHS

MHS Uniform Guidance by Montpelier High School

Montpelier High School (MHS) has very high expectations of all students and their standards of dress and appearance are very important both when in school and travelling to and from school. Our students represent the school at all times in their uniform and we ask that they take pride in wearing it correctly.

We ensure all our students have correct uniform and standards of dress to build upon our core values of respect and responsibility and to ensure all students are equally valued and can focus upon their learning.

Our approach to uniform also ensures students’ safety both whilst in school but also makes them clearly identifiable and distinct when on visits/trips or on their journey to and from the site.

The uniform code states whether

  • items are a compulsory requirement
  • items are optional
  • items will only be worn at certain times of the year (for example, optional winter items of PE kit)
  • where items can be purchased from (eg from Monkhouse Uniforms or other retailers)

THE STANDARD OF A STUDENT’S UNIFORM WILL BE CHECKED.  WHEN STUDENTS ARE DRESSED IN THEIR UNIFORM, THEY ARE REPRESENTING MONTPELIER HIGH SCHOOL AND WE ASK THAT THEIR UNIFORM IS CLEAN AND SMARTLY PRESENTED AT ALL TIMES.

Uniform Expectations

All students must wear correct school uniform to and from school and during the school day.  This will also be the requirement for school trips, unless otherwise specified.

PE Lessons

  • Students with PE period 1+2 will arrive to school in full PE kit and must bring uniform to change into after their PE lesson.
  • Students with period P3+4 will arrive to school in full school uniform and will bring their PE kit to change into prior to their PE lesson.

Please ensure your child is prepared for all weather conditions as we do not have any indoor facilities so PE lessons will take place outside unless unsafe to do so. Full details can be found by clicking the images below.

School physical education uniform must be worn for all physical education lessons and matches. Students who are injured or ill must still get changed for PE. They will be expected to bring a note in from home and will be given an alternative role within their lesson - eg Leader/Umpire/Coach

Labelling of Uniform

All school uniform and physical education kit must be clearly marked with fully named tapes. Order forms for name tapes are available from the school shop. All equipment and footwear must also be clearly named. This will be checked during your daughter’s first lessons.

Financial Assistance for Uniform

Our Sponsors, The Society of Merchant Venturers, provide the school with an Endowment that is used to support families in hardship to meet the cost of uniform and trips/activities.  Priority will be given to families in receipt of Free School Meals but is not limited to.  Please click here to apply.
