Eco Club Success at City Hall

Members of the school's Eco Club attended the headquarters of Bristol City Council this week to present to the Modeshift Active Travel panel their campaign to encourage more people to cycle to school.

The Schools Active Travel Team work closely with primary and secondary schools across Bristol to promote sustainable and active travel to and from school via the Modeshift STARS programme and accreditation scheme. Through its involvement with Modeshift STARS, the Eco Club team hope to successfully embedd a culture of active travel among the student population.

Following a period of consultation and surveys, the team have discovered that more people wanted to cycle into school and would therefore like to encourage students to turn to cycling as their method of transport. Eco Club proposed establishing 'Bike Week' in the Summer term, and asked for funds from the Council to promote the campaign. The team were successfully awarded £250 to fund prizes and incentives and to fund cycling training sessions from Bikeability.

We are very proud of our students for their hard work, kindness and courage to make a difference.
